Bradd Forster, MCom (Economics)

I’m a big numbers geek. For me, economic analysis without data is like a mince and cheese pie without the mince – empty and ultimately unfulfilling.

I enjoy exploring the burning economic questions of the day using rigorous theory and quantitative methods.

I am particularly interested in how governments collect and distribute resources. Policy should maximise society’s welfare, but there are often difficult trade-offs between efficiency and equity.

My understanding of public economics comes from my experience as a policy advisor at Inland Revenue. I advised Ministers on wealth, environmental and international tax matters.

Housing economics is another area of interest. Dwelling choices are amongst the most important decisions facing individuals during their lifetime, and as a housing-frustrated Gen Z-er I am keen to contribute to more research that supports more choices for my cohort. My Master’s research used a natural experiment to estimate the price of specific housing features.

Please get in touch if you want to grab a coffee and chat about tax, housing or anything else.
